FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Carl Zeiss AG, Oberkochen, Germany, today announced that the Carl Zeiss VRSens™ model S5 allows surgical magnifications from 1:1 to 100:1 (10x to 1000x). Its S7 and S8 models include a 20-inch rigid monitor and 7- and 8-inch rigid monitors with 60 degrees of freedom, respectively. They are designed for specific medical applications with high resolution and precision.
Carl Zeiss is the world’s leading manufacturer of optical systems for the medical and scientific fields. Zeiss is a global technology leader in the field of ophthalmic optics, with headquarters in Oberkochen, Germany and offices worldwide.
“We are delighted to be introducing this new surgical microscopy technology to our surgical microscopy range,” said Heinz Arand, President, Carl Zeiss Microscopy GmbH. “This is the next step in the evolution of our industry leading ophthalmic microscopy range. The Carl Zeiss VRSens is the most powerful and precise surgical microscope with a rigid large field of view. This microscope is ideal for all kinds of anterior segment surgery, but also enables important features such as higher resolution and multi-planar image reproduction.”
With its large field of view, improved ergonomics, and magnification from 1:1 to 100:1, Carl Zeiss VRSens is designed to provide physicians with more time to examine the operation site in challenging surgeries.
Carl Zeiss VRSens provides high-resolution magnification in small working distances (up to 2.5 mm) with a large field of view, enabling surgeons to work more precisely, with greater accuracy and more comfort. The 25-inch, 19-lens spherical lens (10x magnification) offers high resolution and precision, while the 28-inch, 22-lens aspherical lens (100x magnification) offers the highest resolution. Both lenses feature Carl Zeiss super multi-coating and the Carl Zeiss Calumet® series.
“With its superior image quality and extreme precision, the Carl Zeiss VRSens allows physicians to operate with greater safety, precision and confidence,” said Dr. Joerg Dörrer, Director of Carl Zeiss Vision GmbH. “The Carl Zeiss VRSens will significantly advance the way we perform ophthalmic surgeries in the future.”
